What we do
The Chief and Principal Examiners set and lead the marking of different papers across different years - the development and revision of papers is a team effort and responsibility. Papers are also scrutinised by a teacher and a lecturer from a university chemistry department.

Fair examining would not be possible without the strong supporting cast of other Edexcel staff and assistant examiners, revisers and assessors who work with us.

A large number of examiners are involved in assessment - watch out for adverts in the TES if you would like to join the team.

Chairs of examiners
You will notice that we have an Assistant Chair of Examiners.
Edexcel administer two Chemistry specifications - Edexcel and Nuffield.
George Facer is Chair of Examiners for Chemistry and as such is responsible for standards across both specifications, aided by Elwyn Davies and the respective Chief Examiners.
Elwyn chairs meetings of Nuffield examiners and oversees Nuffield examination development.
